The Garden

The Garden at the Dartmouth Common Oven is a shared growing space on municipal land. Tended by local residents, it's a place where neighbours come together to grow food, plants, and medicine, connect with each other, and enjoy being outdoors.

We operate under guidelines set by HRM to keep this space thriving and open to all.

How It Works

Member Plots We have 22 private beds assigned to community members each spring, on a first-come, first-served basis, for a small annual maintenance fee. The active growing season runs from May 1 to October 31.

Public Pick Areas All community members are welcome to enjoy harvests from our designated public spaces: Plot #1, the raised strawberry bed, and the "pizza garden" filled with fresh basil.

Please enjoy and respect this shared space.
